Watching Videos on Experts Exchange

EE offers video tutorials on a variety of technology subjects. Check out this article to find video micro tutorials to watch.


This is what you’ll see when you click on a video to watch:
  • 1: Video Title. This shows the title of the Video Micro Tutorial you are watching.
  • 2: Author Info and Dates. This section shows the author of the Video Micro Tutorial and the date and times that the video was first submitted and last updated
  • 3: Publication Status. This shows the Video's current publication status. To learn more about Publication statuses, please read this article.
  • 4: Length. The length information will show you the total time of the video and,  if steps are included, how many steps it takes to complete.
  • 5: Points. This section shows how many total points the video has earned. Higher point totals are usually great indicators of high quality videos.
  • 6: Helpful Votes. This shows the number of people who have found this video helpful.
  • 7: Views. This section shows the total number of times the video has been played.
  • 8: Video Player. The video player allows you to start and pause the video, see how far into the video you are, set the video to full screen (if you have Premium Services), and control your volume.
  • 9: Vote Button. You can vote a Video Micro Tutorial helpful by selecting this button. This will award  the author additional points. If you would like to remove your vote, you may select the button again.
  • 10: Helpful List. This link will display a list that shows all members who have voted the current tutorial as helpful.
  • 11: Ask A Question. If you have a question related to the video, click this button to open the Question Wizard. A link to the video will be included in your question body, and topics will be selected automatically. You can change all of this before you submit your question. Your question will then appear in the Question List (12).
  • 12: Question List. This link will open a list of all questions asked about this video. If the questions have solutions you can also see those in this list.

  • 13: Voting Members. Experts Exchange members who have voted this Video Micro Tutorial Helpful are shown in this list
  • 14: Visitor Count. This is the count of logged out visitors who found this tutorial helpful.

  • 15: Expand / Collapse Answer Button. This button will show on Questions that have Solutions. Selecting the Expand button will show the accepted solution to the question. Selecting Collapse will hide the solution.
  • 16: Question Title. This shows the question asked about the tutorial and links to the question thread.

 
  • 17: Description. The Video Description will give you a general outline of what the video will cover.
  • 18: Step Anchors. Step anchors provide quick access to each step listed in the video. Select a step item to anchor to it and read the accompanying details.
  • 19: Step Number and Title. Use the step number and title to understand the main action performed in this step of the video.
  • 20: Step Detail. Use the step details to understand specifics surrounding each step.

  • 21: Meta Information. This shows more information about the video and its categorization.
  • 22:  Request Attention button. If this video needs attention from the Moderators, use the Request Attention button.
  • 23: Video Series. If a video is in a series, the series information will be listed below the Meta Information.
  • 24: Currently Playing. The video you are currently watching is highlighted with a yellow background.
  • 25: Watch Previous / Next. The "Watch Previous" and "Watch Next" buttons will take you to the previous or next video in the series.
  • 26: Comments section. Members can leave their comments on the video here. Remember that you’ll need a verified email address and a username to post a comment. Please do not use the comment section to ask a question related to the video; instead, use the Ask a Related Question feature.

  • Watch The Series. If a video is in a series, this display will appear in your righthand sidebar. It will let you know how many videos are in the series, and the duration of all of those videos combined. Clicking the series link will take you to the first video in that series. As you complete each video you will automatically be shown the next video.

  • Ask A Question. If you have a question related to the video, click this button to open the Question Wizard. A link to the video will be included in your question body, and topics will be selected automatically. You can change all of this before you submit your question. Your question will then appear in the Question List (12).
