Why was my article deleted?

During the editing process, a Page Editor may decline to immediately publish your piece. You may have an opportunity to resubmit your article if it is declined, but the feedback from the Page Editor must be considered.

Below are reasons an article may be declined at first submission:

  • It contains product marketing material. Advertising, promoting in any way, or offering to sell any goods or services for any commercial purpose is prohibited on Experts Exchange.
    • ​For example, an article that outlines high-level benefits for the purpose of driving traffic to your website is viewed as Product Marketing​

  • It’s not original content. The Page Editors may decline articles that do not clear the content detection process, where duplicate content is identified at another source
    • For example, articles that are republished from another website, including a personal blog, will not be allowed on Experts Exchange

  • It doesn’t comply with requirements. The requirements, listed in the Article Guidelines, include compliance with the Terms of Use.

If your article is declined, you’ll be sent a notification. As the author, you will still have access to all your content. You can Request Attention on your article if you disagree with any of the actions taken by a Page Editor. Again, you may have an opportunity to resubmit your article if it is declined, but the feedback from your Page Editor must be considered.
