I see a question that is answered by an article or video. How do I use it to answer the question?

You can include a link to the article in your comment that answers the question, and the article will receive an extra 1000 points. Used in Solution, or UIS points, will only be awarded to articles if they are linked in comments that are accepted as solutions. If your comment is accepted as the solution, you will also receive an extra 250 points for including a link to an article.

For example, if you post a comment with a link to an article, and that comment is accepted as a solution with 250 points and an A grade, you would receive 1,250 points: 250 points for the solution x a multiplier of 4 for the A grade = 1,000 points, PLUS an extra 250 bonus points for the article, with a grand total of 1,250 points. The author of the article used will also receive 500 points.

You can use any of the following link formats to trigger UIS points. In these examples, "xxxx" is the article ID and "article title" is the title:
  • http(s)://www.experts-exchange.com/articles/xxxx/title.html
  • http(s)://www.experts-exchange.com/articles/xxxx/
  • http(s)://www.e-e.com/articles/xxxx/article-title.html
  • http(s)://www.e-e.com/articles/xxxx/
The same formats are supported for videos (with the category changing to /videos/).

You can paste these directly into the comment box, or use them with the link formatting button at the top of the comment box.

Certain link formats that will not trigger UIS points. Please avoid these formats:

You do not have to be the owner of the content to use the link. The UIS points will be awarded to the author of the content.
