There are several different areas on the site where you can see your Expert point totals.
On your profile, you’ll see your total expert points, and the number of points you’ve earned in the current calendar month. These point totals are updated as you earn points. They’ll typically be quite accurate, but there could be a delay of up to 5 minutes while this total is updated.
If you click "Member and Topic Rank" on your profile, you can see where your overall point total and certification level matches up with other experts. The point total here is updated once a day. The process that updates this number starts at 7pm Pacific Time, and takes a few hours to run. If you check this point total during the day before the update, you’ll likely see this total lagging behind the total in your profile.
If you look at the Topic Rank, you’ll see how many points you have in a single topic and how that matches up with other experts. The point total per topic is updated once a day at the same time as the total in Member Rank.
Top Experts Sidebar
In the Top Experts sidebar you’ll see point totals from the top Experts on the site (or in a specific topic, if you’re on a page within that topic). You can view the point totals from this week, this month, this year, or overall, and you can choose to view Question Points, Article Points, or both. If you click on a member in this list, you’ll be able to see how many points he or she earned yesterday, and you can view his or her profile. All of the point totals here are updated at the same time as the Member Rank and Topic Rank, in the process that starts at 7pm Pacific Time, and takes a few hours to run.
